Tube notcher

Good workmanship, delivery time respected and very correct. Easy use for a good DIYer with a 1200w low speed drill. The two thread diameters are standard for bi-metal hole saws. Happy with my purchase

Product Description

Tube Notcher - Ø 76 mm

The tube notcher is a practical tool for cutting notches into pipes or tubing before connecting them together by welding or other techniques. This makes it possible to make custom-fit steel frames as well as individual handrails. The pipes in question can be steel, aluminium, copper or brass.
Notching angled openings into which pipe struts need to fit exactly presents a particular challenge. With the pipe notcher, you can set the drill head to an angle of up to 50° to create an exact connection. For this purpose, the work platform has a corresponding scale in one-degree increments.
The pipe notcher is equipped with an adjustable 2-axis clamp for convenient operation. A pipe with a diameter of 19 to 76 mm is securely fastened on the first axis, while the second axis is equipped with a removable polished stainless-steel drill pin onto which the drill is fastened. The drill head can be set to the desired angle with the help of the scale. The height can be horizontally adjusted by 35 mm with a mandrel.
The tube notcher's long service life and sturdy 1-1/4" frame set it apart. Special consideration has been given to the polished stainless-steel drill pin, which reduces disruptive vibrations while notching. The pin is powered by a drill which is attached via a 1/2" connector. On the other end of the pin, oriented toward the pipe, you can attach drill bits using an 1/2" and 5/8" connector.
To set up the pipe notcher, simply screw it firmly to a work surface, or even just secure it in a vice, which allows you to make especially flexible use of the device.

Tube notcher

It looks and feels like a solid product. It works well, but I still have some comments. -The degree setting 0-50° is faded and difficult to see. Not like in the photo. With good eyes you can deduce it. I made 0.30 and 45° visible with a long line with a scratch needle. -You must fix the degree setting with two wrenches, an Allen key 10 and an open-end wrench 19. This is not really useful because while you are tightening it, it can shift. I welded on a stainless steel nut so that this can be done with one hand with an Allen key 10. -The height adjustment is difficult to set exactly. No marking or fine adjustment. I have found that it is easier to rotate the radius saw 90° so that it is straight and you don't have to hold the height with one hand while tightening it. I found the center as best I could and marked it with a scratch needle. -The block with axle is too close to the hinge point. When you clamp a 19mm pipe and want to cut it at a right angle, the hole saw is almost against the pipe. There is practically no space. The manufacturer could solve this by increasing the distance by 1 or 2 cm and inserting a longer axle. Good product, definitely worth the money and easy once I have made these adjustments.
