How to make butter popcorn. The recipe for butter popcorn is relatively simple, because you will only need corn kernels, butter (remember to choose clarified butter that will not burn) and salt (unless you prefer your popcorn without it).

Cheese popcorn

Making cheese popcorn is a bit more difficult. First of all, only harder types of cheese, such as Grana Padano or Parmesan cheese, are suitable – other cheeses could clump together under the high temperature and spoil the effect. There is also another way to make cheese-flavoured popcorn – try adding a few teaspoons of inactive yeast flakes!

Do you prefer sweeter snacks? If so, then caramel popcorn could be the best choice. In this case, you will need to prepare the popcorn and the caramel separately, and combine the two ingredients at the end. To make the caramel, melt cane sugar with butter and add a pinch of salt and soda, once the mixture is smooth – then stir vigorously. Combine the caramel with the popcorn and wait for it to solidify – it will then be ready to serve. If you want your popcorn to be crispier, you can bake it in the oven.

When the kernels starts popping, turn the heat under the pot down a bit and wait for it to fill up with tasty popcorn!

To prepare popcorn in this way, you will need a large microwaveable bowl and a plate to cover it. Select the maximum power of the microwave – with 1000W it should last approx. 3 minutes.

You will more and more often find compact versions of this type of equipment for home use, letting you prepare delicious cinema-style popcorn in your own home.
